Speak and Be Spoken

We are now half way through the month of January and I have one question for you: How are your New Year's resolutions coming along? As I stated last month, I was not going to make any new resolutions this year based on the fact that I had already given up shopping for 365 days and didn't think I should be forced to sacrifice anything else. I think I am too fragile to take on another intense project, especially if it is some kind of grapefruit or cabbage diet. Blech.

The truth is that I had actually been pondering some other smaller, more emotional resolutions but I had been reluctant to share them with anyone. These pledges included many Oprah-inspired thoughts of wanting to "live my best life", learning to say "no" more often then "yes", and to start putting my needs ahead of others in certain circumstances.

Well, unfortunately I failed at that game long before it ever began. Why? Because I never told anyone about my intentions. If you don't outwardly declare your resolutions, you will never achieve them. I think that is one of the reasons why we here at 365 FR have been able to stick to our crazy mission. If we weren't documenting it along the way and if we didn't have all of your support, we would have thrown in the towel long ago! Bottom line: everyone needs an audience, even if it is just one person. So if you haven't yet verbalized where you want to be by the end of 2010, start talking, I guarantee there is someone out there who will be willing to listen.

Love, A

P.S. Our latest poll just closed. You chose chocolate as the vice you'd be willing to give up most for one year. I don't blame you. It certainly would be easier than shopping.

P.P.S. In other news, we are being interviewed tomorrow, January 16, on "Newstalk 1010" radio on The Lynne Russell Show. Tune in between 2:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon (EST) in the greater Toronto area, or simply go to their website (www.newstalk1010.com) and listen online. And in light of our first radio interview our newest poll poses the question: 365 in the hot seat, which TV personality should conduct our first interview? You be the judge! Oh, and then we will try to make it happen.
