Parents of a Fashionista

Where I get my fashion instincts from...

I was listening to one of my favourite podcasts the other day, "Q" from CBC radio and Eliot Glazer was being interviewed about his website My Parents Were Awesome where people from all over have submitted photos of their parents and grandparents from "the good ol' days". Listening to it immediately made me think of this photo. It is one of my faves and sits on my makeup table where I can look at it every morning. These are my parents. Both of whom are pretty stylin, if I may say so myself! I'm not sure of the exact date, but it was before my sister was born, so I am guessing early seventies. Don't you just love how bold their choice of pants is? My dad in the burnt sienna (head to toe, no less. That's my fashionably fearless Pop!) and The Mater rockin' the purple? I am also fully diggin' my mom's platform sandals! They totally remind me of Pierre Hardy's capsule collection for The Gap last year.

Sadly, I wasn't able to snag a pair when I had the chance... Wonder if The Mater kept them?

Love, P

Wow how AMAZING to see this photo!
We look sooo young.
You are right --it was before you and J were born.
Love my short red hair do!
"Where are the snows of yester year!"
Can't even remember who said that!

P.S. Don't the shoes look alike? I am sad to hear they are long gone, though I knew I would have gotten my grubby little hands on them by now if they were still around. And if I could've beaten J to the punch, which - let's face it - is unlikely!

Honest dearest P,
I can't even imagine today how I possibly walked on those shoes.
But that's the power of youth!
