... albeit from afar (sigh). Liberty's of London has been a big part of my life. When I was three years old, I lived for with my family in London near Hampstead Heath while my Dad was on a year-long sabbatical. I believe, like many things, I have inherited my fondness for Liberty's from The Mater. She must have loved it, because she bought reams of fabric and made, yes, made dresses for me and my sister, J. (See photo at right. I think this is actually from my sister's birthday celebration while we were still living in England. She is six/seven and I am three. How cute is my sis with her missing tooth?!) J and I are both so sad that we didn't hang on to those amazing creations. I have often lamented how we could have passed them down to The Cupcake Kid (my niece) or to Baby E. But alas, they are lost and gone forever. So, the love of Liberty's was spawned early. Even today, whenever my Dad crosses the Atlantic, I beg him to "pick me up a little something from Liberty's". As such, I have amassed quite a little collection.
When I heard that Liberty's of London was collaborating with Target, I almost died. When I found out it would be released on March 14th - exactly two months and a day before the end of Fashion Rehab, well, my heart almost stopped. Cruel. Cruel and unusual as I Tweeted last month.
Herewith, a photo of my mini Liberty's of London cosmetic case collection and a few of my faves from Target...
P's collection - thanks to her Dad.
In the Target collection I love, love, love...
- The Ladie's Garla Bicycle - was only available online and I think it sold out immediately
- One Shoulder Ruffle Maxi Dress in Garla
- Anything in the Turquoise Isis Peacock print - this includes a piggy bank, picture frame, pillow, halter dress and bathing suit
- The Susanna Green Duffle
- The undies - all of them, soooo cute!
I wonder if I deconstruct my cosmetics bags, I could make myself a bikini?
Love, P

OMG! I, too, nearly fainted when I saw that bike! And I don't even RIDE a bike. (too chicken to ride on the mean streets of The Big Smoke, having been brought up in a subdivision in a small town where bike safety was largely taken care of by alert drivers, keeping their eyes open for kiddies on bikes...) Still, that sweet, sweet print might have made me take up cycling all over again!
Oh Perdy darling how wonderful to see this photo!
I did indeed make those dresses by hand (we didn't have a sewing machine in London).
It was so much fun to go to Liberty's and pick out the prettiest fabrics( and there were so many) to make frocks for my girls.
The photo brings me back to such a happy time in my life.
Many thanks!!
xxxoooo
The clothing was off-limits for me too! And the stuff I was allowed to buy was sold out by the time I got to it. Damn time zones. i blame daylight savings time too, it confused me.
Not to worry, Fashionista Lab, I have a feeling it ALL sold out immediately - daylight savings or not (though that was odd).
YYZ~ have you considered riding in only High Park or in the Beach? You could walk your bike and only hop on in bike-safe zones.
And, finally, I cannot believe you sewed those dresses by hand, Ma Mater! Now that's love!
Love, P
