The Ones That Got Away - part 3

I absolutely just had to throw in a little postscript after reading all of P's fine words in "The Ones That Got Away" - Part 1 & Part 2. I wholeheartedly agree with her clothes tossing philosophies! My contribution to her story comes in the form of two words: storage space. Storage space, you ask? Really? Yes! If we could store the pieces from our closets that are really worth keeping (as in P's once owned Frye sandals) then we would not have to go out and buy replacements once we become filled with "tossers" remorse. If you are lucky enough to already have a garage or storage space in your home then that is fabulous! If not, then you are probably like me and live smack dab in the middle of a city sans storage space and are constantly trying to shove items into every drawer in the house. I think I have thrown so much stuff away in the past just due to lack of room in my apartment.

Myself and P having a laugh together a few years ago! With neutral so prominent for Spring, how sad am I that I gave away this beige cowl neck sweater? Also, check out the peeping lace! How 2010 is that?

So without further ado, here are my 5 tips for... sanctity in storage:

1. Cut down on rental fees by sharing a storage space with your best girlfriends ($10/month is certainly a lot cheaper than replacement costs for that leather jacket you hastily gave away)
2. Rotate your seasons (that way the impulse to purge a sundress in February will not take over)
3. Have a swap party at your space with your new "storage rental roommates"- it is like four wardrobes in one!
4. Feeling like buying something new? Why not take a stroll to your storage space and see what goodies lie within?
5. Afraid you might forget what you put away? Document it all with a handy closet organizing iPhone application like Stylebook or TouchCloset!

Love, A
