Signs, Signs, Everywhere Are Signs

My early days in Fashion Rehab were spent engaging in a lot of useless (and somewhat painful) window shopping. I originally had thought I would feel like I was still in the "buying game" by pretending I was shopping and I liked the idea of making the challenge as intense as possible. Some may call that crazy behavior. I thought if I could walk through Ambiance (one of my favorite local go-to boutiques in San Fran) and not buy a thing, then that meant I was REALLY committed to this project. As time wore on I realized I didn't need to throw myself in the middle of any retail environment to prove that I was committed. The proof is in the pudding. 321 days in and still not one purchase.

Now, I just go about my day to day business and mostly try to stay out of the shops. The problem is (although not a problem until last May-or wait a sec-was it a problem???) is that my neighborhood is FULL of really cute stores! An innocent lunch date at Tacolicious with a friend happens to be next door to my favorite stationary shop, Paper Source. Girls night out at Delarosa is across the street from Two Skirts. My chiropractor is even on the same street as Sephora! Am I supposed to just stay indoors for the next 6 weeks because is it too painful to see all of that shiny new stuff out there? The thought hadn't really occurred to me until I was walking to the park on Sunday and saw THIS:

Diane Von Furstenberg Sample Sale sign in my neighborhood this past weekend

Seriously???? It is bad enough to have to get all of my "sample sale mail" in my inbox...but to literally be walking down the street and unintentionally come upon a sign that I have only seen in my dreams! Oh mon dieu. What is this Fashion Rehabber to do? I have meditated on it and realized that these things can have a second coming. I mean I have seen more than one solar eclipse in my life, right? That can only mean that something this rare must come around more than once in a lifetime! I will try not to hold my breath, but I will be waiting for the next one Ms. Furstenberg, I will be waiting.

Love, A

Gosh, I admire your willpower! Because really, a sign like that?! No fair!

Hilarious! I know, that sign possibly could have been my hardest "no shop" moment. Sales come and go but something like that is so rare! Love, A
