- Flat black boots
- Trench/Raincoat
- Black pumps
- Black leggings
- An everyday-goes-with-everything-perfectly-sized-go-to bag (though this could be less of a hole in my closet and more of an addiction issue). Are A and I on the same quest? Apart from quitting shopping for a year, it seems we are both on The Quest for the Perfect Bag - read her marvy thoughts on the matter here.
Below is a little snapshot of the items I would die for to fill my closet cavities if money was no issue. It's good to have goals, right?
Frye Black Riding Boots, Burberry Trench, classic Louboutin pumps
Cole Haan Saddle Hobo/Tory Burch snakeskin bag (am such a Bag Lady...), black cotton/spandex leggings
I am aware that there is a lot of black on this list, but since I regularly forced myself, pre-Fashion Rehab, away from black (why, oh why did I do this?), I am sadly without a few of the cornerstone black pieces that should be housed in any self-respecting fashionista's wardrobe, such as a pair of black leggings and a go-to black bag. I broached the black bag dilemma in my last video Baby Got Bags.
What is the matter with me? How could such obvious closet must-haves get forgotten like an umbrella in a café once it has stopped raining? Is it because these classic, wardrobe staples somehow feel un-fun to shop for? Knowing myself, I would say yes, this is why. I love to shop and since I associate shopping with fun, going out and spending the limited dollars I have on something, ugh, practical was just never on the agenda, I guess. Black boots? Nah! Those are "boring"! Now, I am up the fashion creek nary a black pump or a proper raincoat in sight. (It is pouring here today and I will be going out in my jean jacket - good grief!)

Love you girls! My wardrobe is not as expansive as you all's, but I would die for those items too.
I just found your blog a few days ago and have LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it! I am dying to know what your first purchases are.
You girls are so ambitious for this undertaking!
Thank you so much, YM! I am dying to know what my first purchase will be, too! Only 37 days away - hard to believe! Maybe it'll be the snakeskin bag...?

After a four (4!!!) year search I found my perfect pair of black flat boots. The first three years I went the cheap-o route and bought the 'suede-like' material boots. No, no, no. For these basics, please spring for the extra quality--you will be much happier and save money in the end! Plus, you won't have to shop for these 'boring' things as often! ;)
I also am VERY excited to see how you guys fare after rehab is done! Please, please continue the blog--I want to see your first purchases, see if you notice if your spending philosophy has changed, everything! :D
Plummy ~
You are very, very wise. Thank you so much for pointing out that, theoretically I will only have to shop for these things once! But even more than that thank you for your support! And not to worry, we'll definitely be letting you know about our post-rehab purchase(s)!!!
Love, P
HI P:
I love your choices above.. I actually have the Frye Black Riding Boots and they are one of the best purchases I have. I do not regret spending the money, only because I know that I will not be dishing out $$$ for another great pair of soon in the near future. These boots will last me a while.
I like all your other choices above... the burberry trench is stunning... gorgeous choice.
The days are counting down and I cannot believe that your journey is ending, but a new new will be beginning for you & A soon...
Keep up the fab posts... I will be reading...

S~
I am seriously green with envy that you own those boots, but am also very, very grateful to get a first-hand opinion! Perhaps they will be my first post-rehab purchase...?
Thanks, as always, for the love!

How funny-- I, too, have a far-too-big wardrobe, but was missing some of the same key pieces! I did eventually find some black pumps (no one could believe, given my shoe addiction, that I did not have basic, classic black pumps); the Louboutins are also my pair of choice, but not the pair I bought. Champagne taste, beer budget, me. I also want them in brown. Dream big, right?
I do have (finally) the perfect flat black boots, but it took a LONG time to find them. Mine are Capezio (dead ringers for the ones you posted, still good quality and not nearly as pricey).
These things take time to find, but they are worth it! Good luck!
Great minds, YYZ, great minds. And, merci!
Love, P
