Who:A
What:Aqua Silk Blouse, $64
Where:Bloomingdale's
When:May, 2010
Why:Various reasons! First of all, I really needed an update to my current blouse/top selection. I have a tendency to buy mostly solid colors (which is great for a timeless wardrobe) but it is also important to add a little punch once in awhile with a print to bring things up to date. The funny thing is, P had actually grabbed this top first to try on, but then after a little reflection in the dressing room she didn't think it was right for her. I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised with both the fit (yummy) and the fabric (silky).
It also met the criteria from my "it's okay to make this purchase because of these reasons..." list. (This list hasn't been fully disclosed to the public yet but is drawn from the post I wrote called the "5 Common Threads of Unworn Clothes"- click here for that little tidbit of useful info)
This item easily goes with at least three items in my closet: white pants, any kind of skinny jean, and black dressy shorts.
It can be worn with ease: I already own the proper bra to go with it, it transcends any season and can be paired easily with a cardigan or blazer, and its dry-clean only tag suits me fine for a top that will most likely not be worn more than once or twice per month.
It suits my lifestyle: I could wear it out for drinks, brunch, or any kind of social event.
So there you have it. That's the skinny on my Aqua top from Bloomies.
Love, A
P.S. Bloomingdale's currently only has the top left in large (click here) but for a similar look check out this one from Collective Concepts at Nordstrom.
