My Fashion Prescription For Fall

I haven't been shopping in quite some time. I stocked up on what I would call necessities immediately following our victorious completion of Fashion Rehab, but have been pretty mellow with my spending ever since. Now that we are smack dab in the middle of the summer season I feel like it would be almost senseless to buy anything with a short sleeve or a cropped leg when fall is just around the corner.

Since missing out on the fall collections last year I have to say that I am extremely excited for what is to come. I don't want to rush into anything though. I would like to sort out my likes and dislikes way in advance so I am not wandering aimlessly through the stores unable to decide if something is hip or heinous.

Here is a sampling of my favorite picks thus far:

The camel coat (Chloe), I just love love love. Purple is still big this year and I am so into this dress by Bottega Veneta. Also this little Dolce and Gabanna number embodies both the lingerie and lace trends that seem to be everywhere. I love the femininity (jury is still out on the knee socks but I know they are uber popular) of this look. All designs are from the Fall 2010 collections.

And still going strong? Thigh-high boots and neutrals.

Hermes and Preen Fall 2010

So what is the next step? To translate these looks from runway to ready-to wear, of course! That will have to wait until September, though, as I am not quite ready for coats and cashmere.

I'm doing the same thing before shopping--checking to see if there are any gaps in my wardrobe before I spend. The difference for me, though is that from now on, in order to save money, I will be shopping off season. So, my fall shopping will be for clearance summer clothes. I will wear whatever I have from last fall, then shop for Fall in the Spring.

I am totally into your plan! The deals you can get an the end of the season are amazing and if you want to buy higher quality pieces for better prices that is definitely the way to go.
I also think that the seasons now really blend together so that there isn't as much as a division of what constitutes "summer" clothing vs. "fall". Some of the styles I chose above can be worn anytime of year and have been trending for some time. Let us know if you find any amazing deals!
