A Steal Worth Starving For

A few weeks ago, I was feeling a little down and kinda without purpose (read about it in The Mourning After). So, I did what any self-respecting, recently sprung Fashion Rehab survivor would do: I went shopping. In fairness, it started out as a grocery mission, but I was feeling so blah, that I decided to pop into a few stores that were in the mall where the supermarket was. I wandered listlessly, hoping the window shopping would cure whatever it was that was ailing me. I browsed and browsed and browsed.

And then I found the most amazing pair of Diane von Furstenberg gold sandals at Winners.

They were a total steal, but still stretched my budget to the absolute limit. So, you know what I did? I bought them. Cause here's the thing; responsible shopping, conscious shopping, yes and yes. But DVF goodies for 75% off is what we here at 365 Fashion Rehab call a steal worth starving for. The SWSF is a rare and elusive thing, and even after a year of going without and walking away from many a SWSF, it is a thing to be recognized, acknowledged and respected. At the end of it all, even after a full year in the couture clink, sometimes you just gotta go for it!

Have you ever come across a "steal worth starving for"? If so, I need to hear the story - details immediately!

Love, P

P.S. Shopstyle is one of my all-time fave shopping sites and was a close friend to me when I couldn't shop and I could only dream. Before A and I left for NYC, I had been using the favorites function as my wish-list keeper. The other day, I was flipping through my list and lo and behold, there were my newly purchased sandals! I had completely forgotten that I had picked them out months ago as something I wanted to buy after Fashion Rehab ended!

Nice post A. Agree with the rationale behind SWSF.
Glad you bought the sandals. Good for you!!
Alas, I am still rehabbing, my wish list grows ever longer.

Thanks Susan. I had fun writing this one and I have to say, I continue to wear the sandals all the time!
