Best in Toe

At the beginning of the summer, all the fashion mags cover the hot toe-nail polish colors for the coming season. This year, beauty editors were touting warm browns, soft pinks and bright corals.

OPI's You Don't Know Jacques, Essie's Tart Deco & Cajun Shrimp also by OPI - all available at Amazon

It's all well and good to delcare these hues in early spring, but which ones have you actually gone for? And what did you think of them?

If you have ever gone for a pedicure with me, you know that I am uber indecisive when it comes to time to choose my polish. Why it takes me so long is beyond me. Maybe it's the wall filled with every color you could imagine that halts me in my un-pedicured tracks? Too much choice? Who knows? This summer, though, things were different. So far, I have adorned my tootsies with three swell colors. And each time, I came out of my little nail spot absolutely thrilled with the results- which is quite a feat (ugh!). My winning colors this year have been: OPI's The Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It, Shocking Pink Neon by China Glaze and the marvy plum by OPI - No Spain, No Gain - which I happened to get the morning of the World Cup final. Think it might have had something to do with Spain taking the big gold trophy?

OPI's The Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It, my own bright pink China Glaze-d tootsies and No Spain No Gain, OPI

So, now that we are well into my favorite season and I have let you in on the colors that top my list, I want to know; What is your paint of choice?

Love, P

P.S. If I had to choose based on names alone, these would be my picks! All from OPI, the original great namer - I'm Not Really a Waitress, Pinking of You, Monsooner or Later and my all-time fave for both color and title (though sadly discontinued), At Your Quebec and Call

While I rocked my fair share of corals this summer, my standout fave was a lavender polish I got from Avon.

This summer I really enjoyed a pinky nude by OPI called Catch the Garter (the application takes a few coats, but the finished nail looks so smooth and glossy!) and a warm brownish gray by Sally Hansen's Professional Line. I also rocked my fair share of deep teal and other warm pinks!

I just want to know if you are sporting Doctor Scholls on your feet?
You are taking me back, back, back...

(The Essie is my fav. I have a similar color and it is almost gone)

I'm Not Really a Waitress is a long-time fave of mine, but the colours I have been lusting for this summer stem from an unfulfilled desire for that awesome green by Chanel that showed up earlier in the year--soooo gorgeous! Essie makes a good knock-off called Candy Apple Mint, but it is sold out EVERYWHERE and I can't bring myself to splurge on the Chanel, so I have faked an unsatisfactory substitute with a colour by Nicole and cheap blue-y topcoat. Meh.

My friend gave me her You Don't Know Jacques when she found it unflattering on her olive skin and I didn't really love it at first, but now I wear it quite often on both fingers and toes in cooler weather. I like the brights for summer, but I LOVE the dark colours (especially on my fingertips!) in fall and winter. :)

Wow-- what a long, boring comment! Sorry about that! Feel free to discard it! :)

I've been doing bright corals for a few summers in now, and it's definitely my go-to color. Right now, though, I have Essie's Mint Candy Apple (a light turquoise) on my toes, and it makes me so happy every time I look at it!

I have gone back and forth with a few but my colour of choice this summer has to be "Stop for Nicole" - by Nicole (by OPI) Brilliantly shiny / sparkly red. Amazing in the sunlight, slightly different hue indoors. All the same - Love, love, love!

Found this blog about the polish:

My fave this spring-summer was Essie's lavender...the good news is fall-winter is coming - time to rock out the darkest, baddest hues. Since you guys are also based in Toronto, hit up Ritual - they have a manicure that lasts two weeks - no chips, no nicks :)GG @ gracefulglutton.blogspot.com

LyddieGal, Plummy, Susan, YYZ, Marissa, WCJ & GG - Thank you all so much for sharing your faves! YYZ - First of all, we would never discard a comment from you (one of our most loyal followers) and 2) did you see Marissa's comment? I think she may have found a secret stash of that turquoise Essie you were lusting over... Marissa - can you let us/YYZ in on where you found it?
And, yes, Susan, I am wearing old school Dr. Scholl's in that photo. A and I have been going back in time, reminiscing about our early, early fashion days and I remembered these were the my first brush with "heels". When I was about four, my babysitter let me take hers for a spin around the block. Every time I wear them I am reminded of that first rush of walking in heels and that fabulously glamourous clik-clak sound.
Love, P
P.S. GG - Ritual you say? Sounds too good to be true... Where are they located?

I did see Marissa's comment! It would be divine if you could reveal your source, Marissa! :) Thanks, P!

I actually wrote an entry in my blog the other day about the gray hues of nail polish and I can't wait to try it!
