Confession of a (Reformed) Shopaholic

I may be about to commit haute couture hari kari here. I just don't think I can take it anymore. If I see one more chunky sweater or suede boot, I just may burst into tears.

My confession is this: I think I may be the only fashionista out there who does not love fall. There I said it. Am I looking forward to buying myself a camel coat (the "it" item for the coming season)? Yes I am (god willing). Once the temperature drops, will I be grabbing the chunkiest knits in sight? Yes I will. But right now, it's August. The few remaining dog days of summer. Glorious, warm, sunshiny summer. And as much as I love the massive fashion mags that go hand in hand with the month of September, I am simply in full denial and I am not ready, okay people? I am not ready.

Just a couple of items I am most likely to pick up in the fall (when it actually arrives)
photo credits to Shopping Info for the coat (sadly no longer avialble) and PoshPosh for the sweater

So, try to see me less as a "hater" of fashion's most cherished time on the style calendar, and more as a girl who's getting ready to say farewell to her flip flops, her bikinis and her sunhats. In short, her favorite time of year.

Love, P

I'm a fall lover (never a fan of heat and humidity--this morning is chilly and I love it!!) but it's too soon to see fall clothes. Having said that, I think I've finished my fall shopping. :p

I think most people love summer more than winter. For some, winters are brutal and is associated with cabin fever. I think more than a few of those people who live in areas that suffer really rough winters share your sentiment about the last days of summer.

Another great post...and I need a camel coat also.

I just really love this site cause I'm a girly girl--albeit, a girly girl on a budget, LOL.

While my favorite season is early summer, I have to admit that my favorite season to dress is fall. This is mainly because I associate fall with back to school, shopping, and layering. Plus, the styles for fall seem much more impactful than the ones for summer, when clothing is meant more for comfort in the sweltering weather...

Amen to that!
I am a bit annoied by all the fall items I see in shop windows and magazine, while all I want to do for now is enjoy the sun and the warm nights, the beach and the flowers.
Fall is going to come anyway - why the urge to anticipate it months before?

You are not alone!!!
I love summer, and I hate having the last few, precious weeks of it tainted by fall fashion being shoved down my throat at every turn.
I could cry over the loss of my sundresses, with no additional layers needed. Of warm nights when I can just go outside and not need to be dressed like the abominable snowman.

Longer days, sandals, the beach, iced beverages -- summer is the best!

Once fall hits, it's like you are in a full on sprint to christmas and new years and then you still have to suffer through five more months of snow and ice until you can find your way back to summer again.

Maybe I should rethink living in New England. But I am in no way ready to start lusting after fall fashion.

Chic on the Cheap
