The white t-shirt. A wardrobe staple that has become as iconic as the LBD. My quest? To find the perfect white tee that encompasses a great fit, is a decent price point, and can be worn with a nude bra (no layering, please!). I am sure
Alexander Wang's tees are fab, but they hover around the $100 mark and that is
way over my budget. On the flip side there are plenty of low end tee's that also just don't make the cut (usually they are made of 100% cotton and end up shrinking and losing their shape). Below are few examples of some potential winners, but I am also seeking your opinion!
My personal fave is the Topshop tee but I am also intrigued by the Petit Bateau ones, too.
(Their children's line is soooo soft so I can only assume that their women's line would be the same?) The sun soon will be shining and it will be time for short sleeves. Please help end my quest for the perfect white tee!

I had one from victoria's secret that was pretty good! I've always heard good things about petit bateau but never tried them... Splendid would be another similar brand to check out!

You KNOW I am gonna say it: H&M all the way. Their new Ts look much higher-end than they did in previous seasons. The most expensive one you will find will probably be about $14, but the $10 or even $6 (!) ones are just as good. Because white Ts get so gross over the course of a summer, I buy them in bulk. That way, I always have a good-looking one on-hand when I need it and never have that "oh-no-all-my-tshirts-look-like hell-and-I-really-need-one-for-this-outfit!" moment.
At the end of the season, or as they start to look ratty, I make them into rags (soft, lint-free = great way to recycle!) and even used one in a recent millinery project. At the H&M price-point, I don't worry too much if they start to look mange-y, whereas I used to fret about my pricey white Ts looking old, greyed, etc. With proper care (wash in cold, lay flat to dry), the H&M Ts stay looking good for a couple of seasons.
I have also had luck with Jacob Ts and Smart Set, but they are a bit too 'stretchy' for my taste and don't last nearly as well as the good ol' H&M versions. Good luck and be sure to let us know what you decide!
I recently purchased one from Joe Fresh and for 12$ its been a huge success. I had 3 friends asking me about where I grabed it.
that is my vote :)
I bought Banana Republic's Timeless v-neck tee last year and I love it. The v-neck makes it feel a little sexier than a crew neck and the material is super soft.
I love H&M but I have a Victoria's Secret one (not to mention I try to get everything I see in that catalog) and I love the fabric, the fit, love it.

I'm still looking for the perfect white tee that needs no layering as well!!:| let me know if you've found the ONE :)
Loving all of the tips! Thanks, everyone! I am intrigued by the Joe Fresh suggestion but as I am in the US I may have to ask my rehab sister to bring one down next time she comes to Cali. H&M also sounds like a great option! Will keep you posted! Love, A
